Tbilisi City Tour
Tbilisi is a capital of Georgia, founded in the 5th century by King Vakhtang Gorgasali. Tbilisi is one of the oldest cities in the world. It existed as the capital of Iberia. Tbilisi has always been distinguished by urban customs, urban jurisdiction, moral, aesthetic and traditional peculiarities. You can find here a mixture of diferent culturies and centuries. You will see the old part of the city , impressive buildings with balconies of different types. Abanotubani ancient district of Tbilisi with sulfur bathes. Fothres of Narikala wich dates right back to the 4th century, when it was a Persian citadel. In the same way you will see a central avenue wich is a mix of modern and 20th century architecture. You can find a lot of buildings from Soviet Union’s period. Avanue is full of various cafes, shops, restaurants and other entertainment places. The State Museum of Georgia who invites you to the exhibition “Georgian Archaelogy from 8th millennium B.C till 4th century A.D”. It presents the permanent exhibition “Numismatic Treasure”. Alaverdi- Gremi –Tsinandali – Shumi – Telavi
Alaverdi (11 century) is located in the east part of Georgia. Earliest structures of Alaverdi Monastery date back to the 6th century. The Monastery was founded by the monk Joseph Alaverdel. Situated in the heart of the world’s oldest wine region, the monastery monks have been making their own wine since 1011. Next stop Gremi. The history of Gremi, as a city, begins from XV century. The architectural complex of Gremi consists of various buildings.There are the Archangel domed church, a three-story palace-bell tower, agricultural buildings, a curtain wall and the secret exit to the river Intsobi. After that you will visit Alexander Chavchavadze House-Museum(tsinandali museum), beautiful garden of Tsinandali and the 19th century unique wine cellar. After, you will degustate georgian wines in Shumi. you are going to enjoy the walk between the vineyards. Stay in the city of Telavi.
Telavi – Davit Gareji – Tbilisi
Drive to David Gareji Monastery Complex. A rock-hewn Georgian Orthodox monastery complex located in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia, on the half-desert slopes of Mount Gareja, some 60–70 km southeast of Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. The complex includes hundreds of cells, churches, chapels, refectories and living quarters hollowed out of the rock face. The complex was founded in the 6th century by David (St. David Garejeli), one of the thirteen Assyrian monks who arrived in the country at the same time. After the restoration of Georgia’s independence in 1991, the monastery life in David Gareja was revived. Drive to Tbilisi
Tbilisi-Uplistsike –Mtskheta – Tbilisi
Uplistsikhe ancient cave town hewn into the rock. Its history begins in the I-II millennium B.C. Uplistsikhe was an important religious, political and cultural centre in the Hellenistic and the late Antique periods. After that you will see the city of Mtskheta ancient capital of Georgia (Kartli) . Here you can see outstanding examples of medieval religious architecture in the Caucasus. They show the high artistic and cultural level attained by this ancient kingdom.
Tbilisi – Ananuri – Kazgebi (Stepantsminda) – Tbilisi
Ananuri architectural complex on the Aragvi River is one of the best-protected monuments in Georgia. This medieval monument, which is very well preserved, was originally used for military purposes, and only later it became the residence of the Dukes of Aragvi, in the 13th century. After that we will visit Kazbegi (stepantsminda). Stepantsiminda is known for its scenic location in the Greter Caucasus mountains, and is a center for trekkers and mountain climbing. We’ll rise up to the mountain of Sameba and will see the Mountain of mkhinvartsveri one of the major mountains of Caucasus.
