Tbilisi is a capital of Georgia, founded in the 5th century by King Vakhtang Gorgasali. Tbilisi is one of the oldest cities in the world. It existed as the capital of Iberia. Tbilisi has always been distinguished by urban customs, urban jurisdiction, moral, aesthetic and traditional peculiarities. You can find here a mixture of diferent culturies and centuries. The State Museum of Georgia who invites you to the exhibition “Georgian Archaelogy from 8th millennium B.C till 4th century A.D”. It presents the permanent exhibition “Numismatic Treasure”. Tbilisi – New and Old Shuamta – Ikalto – Tsinandali – Telavi
Drive to Kakheti region crossing through Gombori pass, first you will see Old and New Shuamta Churches. The monastic complex Of old Shuamta contains a basilica from the 5th century and two domed churches, both from the 7th century. New Shuamta – Late medieval Georgian Orthodox monastery, that was founded in the 50s of the XVI century. Next stop will be Ikalto Monastery that was founded in the VI century by one of the Assyrian fathers Zenon. Ikalto was the highest educational institution in Georgia during XI-XII centuries. After that you will visit Alexander Chavchavadze House-Museum(tsinandali museum), beautiful garden of Tsinandali and the 19th century unique wine cellar. Stay in the city of Telavi.
Telavi – Alaverdi – Gremi – Kvareli – Signagi – Tbilisi
Drive to Alaverdi Monastery (XI century) wich is located in the east part of Georgia. Earliest structures of Alaverdi Monastery date back to the 6th century. The Monastery was founded by the monk Joseph Alaverdel. Situated in the heart of the world’s oldest wine region, the monastery monks have been making their own wine since 1011. Next stop Gremi. The history of Gremi, as a city, begins from XV century. The architectural complex of Gremi consists of various buildings.There are the Archangel domed church, a three-story palace-bell tower, agricultural buildings, a curtain wall and the secret exit to the river Intsobi. Drive to Kvareli Wine Cave , a tunnel 7.7 Kilometers in length carved into the rock, filled with the best aging wines of Winery Khareba. You will have a opportunity to taste Georgian wine , listen a seminar of wine making and participate in preparation of Georgian traditional dishes. And finaly the city of love- Signagi. Tbilisi Open Air Museum of Ethnography will be your first stop. It was founded on April 27, 1966 and encompasses 14 ethnographic zones. Each exhibit presents a certain historic-ethnographic area of Georgia. Together with architectural monuments, the museum presents ethnographic materials. Next will be The National Botanical Garden of Tbilisi, that occupies the area of 161 hectares and possesses a collection of over 4,500 taxonomic groups. After a nice walk in the garden you will rich to the church of David(19th century) by cable car. You also will see Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures wich is located near Father David’s Church. The terrace near the temple offers wonderful views of Tbilisi, which gives a special charm to this place. Using a cable car one more time you will reach to the park of Mtatsminda. The park is situated at the 770 metres height, the highest point of Tbilisi, on the area of more than 100 hectares. You will definitely enjoy views from the highest place of the city.
